Events, Seminars, & Networking
The San Francisco Internship Program events are one of the most popular features of our program. The events are planned to give you full exposure to your new city, while combining travel, with many of the most popular attractions in the city. Although your summer will be filled with gaining valuable work experience, it is very important that you gain the full experience of living in San Francisco, and our events will do just that. The following are just a few examples of activities from past programs, and the full roster of summer activities will be announced later in the year.

You'll be able to experience San Francisco's cool breeze and perhaps sail through its infamous fog -
The California Gold Rush of 1848-49 brought nearly 25,000 people to San Francisco, making it the largest city on the West Coast (now the 4th) -
San Francisco is the last large city in the US still using cable cars as a popular mode of public transportation- the red cars have become an icon of the city -
The arrival of writers and artists to San Francisco in the 1950s established the modern coffeehouse culture -
The city is a principal banking and finance center, and the home of over 30 international financial institutions, helping to make San Francisco fifteenth in the world's list of cities by GDP and eighth in the United States -
Cable Cars run on the San Francisco Municipal Railway, or Muni as it is better known -
They operate on two routes from downtown near Union Square to Fisherman's Wharf, and a third route along California Street -
The very first successful cable-operated street railway was the Clay Street Hill Railroad, which opened on August 2, 1873 -
The driver of a cable car is known as the 'Gripman' -
In 1878 Leland Stanford opened his California Street Cable Railroad (Cal Cable). This company's first line was on California Street and is the oldest cable car line still in operation -

You will get breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge available only out on the water -
The Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed during the year 1937 -
The famous International Orange color was originally used as a sealant for the bridge but was kept after locals urged the creators to keep it -
Each cable on the bridge contains 27,572 separate wires -

San Francisco Dream Careers Class of 2009!
With all that San Francisco has to offer, you will kick start your summer with a tour of the city to allow you to get comfortable with your surroundings and get an overview of what sights you would like to explore during the summer. The tour will start with a drive around the city on one of the world famous San Francisco cable cars. While on the cable car, you will be guided through the main attractions of the city such as Fisherman’s Wharf, the Ferry Building, Nob Hill, past the Coit Tower and even down Lombard Street (The world’s crookedest street). After a great drive you’ll get to enjoy lunch as a group as you get ready for the second part of the day. After lunch you’ll be taking a sail around the bay on a catamaran, the catamaran ride will give you a scenic view of the city as you sail around the bay; this will give you a unique view to the city you’ll call home for the summer. This will definitely be the best way to spend the day and get you excited about your eight-week stay in beautiful San Francisco!
Seminars & Networking
The San Francisco Speaker Series occurs once per week after work where industry professionals share their success stories and outline the essential aspects of preparing for life after college. The Speaker Series is a valuable aspect of the Internship Program, as it allows you to gain insight from industry professionals. Additionally, you will spend time building your professional network, as you will have time to talk with each at the end of their speech.
With the support of our partner Menlo College, those that participate in our Speaker Series will be provided with contract academic credit from Menlo College. For additional details please go to our Academic Credit page.
